Photo Booth Friday

Happy Friday! It's a great day! Supposed to get up to 60 degrees here today and I've already got soo much accomplished indoors that I'll have time to do some fun things outside today!
My sister and her family is coming down today and I'm soo excited! I'm sure I'll have some great pictures next week too from their visit, But today I've got a few favorites from this week! I've even got Lexi's first haircut... ok, it's just a trim and the hair that I saved from it is barely even visible, but now it'll grow more evenly and less mullet-like.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

What a day!

Today it's snowing-again! I don't mind snow. I just don't like driving in it. I like it when we can stay indoors all day and just watch movies and drink hot chocolate and snuggle with my favorite people. Today though is not that day. I was out already this morning to my first Bible Study at my church. Now, this isn't the first one they've had, but it's the first one I've actually thought looked good enough to sign up for, and it is! It's amazing and today was only day one! We are studying the parable of The Prodigal Son. We are reading the book The Prodigal God by Timothy Keller. Today we just watched a video and already it was amazing! I can't wait to dig deeper into the story.
.
Have any of you read the book? Has it changed your world? I'd love to hear what you think about it and what you took away from it!

Snow Day #2

Zoe's finally back at school after 2 days of snow days! And they were soo much fun! It's been a long time since I've really just kicked back and had fun with them both. I didn't focus on laundry, dishes or cleaning (yes, I did get a lot of that done, but it wasn't my main focus). My main focus was my girls and having fun with them! I did! Monday was Fantastic! Tuesday was great with grandpa and my Aunt and Uncle that came up for the Farm Show. The girls climbed on tractors, ate a ton of candy, we got a ton of freebies- pens and paper and such and really just had a great time!

Then we came home and made a snow day favorite- Snow Icecream. We attempted Chocolate this year and a new recipe! So, sugar, Chocolate milk and vanilla mixed in some snow till ice cream consistancy. Patrick refers to it as Milk Cream! Whatever you want to call it, it's GREAT!

Finally Patrick made it home so Zoe played outside in the 6 inches of snow with him while I played inside with Lexi as it was "too cold" for her to play with them! She is my daughter.

You might notice that I have pictures of all of this as I've been attempting to take more pictures and I've been doing well! Along with some of my other new years goals too! Hope you all are enjoying your January!

Snow Day!

This is what we woke up to....

3 inches of snow! I know this doesn't seem like a lot but in Kansas it's enough to cancel school! Which makes Today Zoe's first Snow Day!!
So, to make today memorable I decided to just have fun with the girls! We started off our day by sleeping in of course. Then we had a honey bun for breakfast- very healthy ; ) and then we let the fun begin!

We started with playing with shaving cream cakes... basically shaving cream on a cookie sheet "frosted" with shaving cream with spatulas. I even found some pretty beads to throw on as well to decorate them.

Second we played balloon tennis using small plates on paint mixing sticks and a balloon tied to the chandelior. Such fun! This is a new favorite of ours.

Third we discovered the joys of Pink Lemonade "snow" cones! This was a fun treat! Zoe loved going out to get the fresh snow and then I just poured pink lemonade over it. I think we had like at least 4 cups of these today! In the past we've made snow ice cream, but I didn't have all the ingredients on hand, so these would just have to do.

Then we got to watch a Bugs Bunny Cartoon followed by some serious cleaning of the disaster that is their room! I think we'll start to bake some cookies now and really give this day the perfect finish before dad comes home and maybe takes them outside to play for a bit! It's fun for them, but even more fun for me to watch them- from inside the house! It is beautiful with the snow falling down but even better then this is the view with my girls and their wonderful dad outside!
I know this sound like just a lot of fun today and it was, a lot of fun actually, but I was really productive! I got the floors swept and mopped, the laundry done- folded and put away and the dishes done. I've even planned ahead and got dinner all thawed out and ready to go in the oven and even had time to update my blog! What a great day! In the words of Zoe "we should have snow days more often!"

2011

We are 6 days in! I had a list of things I'd like to do, so just to help keep myself accountable on one thing, I'm sharing some of the pictures that I've taken, just for fun! And it was fun! Really fun! Sometimes I forget that I have a degree in this and it is something that I obviously loved at one time, so here are my latest snapshots taken on a beautiful 70 degree day in December! Though I do have to remind myself that even though I'm a professional that doesn't mean that I can't just be a mom and take fun snapshots! They won't be posed, they probably won't even be composed good or with good lighting, but they are fun and these are what I'll have the rest of my life, so for me they are great!
